Speak to any AGA owner and they'll wax lyrical about their cooker's qualities: its constant warmth, convenience and, of course, the superb cooking results. An AGA heat-storage cooker has longevity built-in and is an investment that will last for generations… its life-span is typically more three times longer than a conventional cooker.

Thanks to its cast-iron body the AGA cooker performs exceptionally well. It retains heat efficiently, meaning it's ready to cook whenever you are. This unique way of cooking, with radiant heat, is far gentler on food than the drying heat from conventional cookers - it locks in flavour, moisture and goodness for delicious results. Each model has a series of ovens offering the ideal level of heat for each type of cooking.  The iconic AGA insulated covers reveal the boiling and simmering plates.  Even better, having plenty of ovens at your disposal makes catering for large numbers easier, a great help in busy households.

In an AGA home, you may never need a toaster, electric kettle, bread maker or tumble drier - your AGA heat-storage cooker can do it all, and better. And with fewer appliances, your kitchen is less cluttered, as well as the opportunity to save on your home energy costs.

  • Can I air my washing on my AGA heat-storage cooker? Read more

Yes. The AGA heat-storage cooker radiates a gentle warmth that dries your clothes beautifully, reducing your reliance on a tumble dryer. To do this, use an airer or clothes horse -be careful never to drape clothes or sheets over the ventilation holes on the burner door.

Another job the AGA cooker makes light work of is ironing items such as folded pillow slips or t-shirts simply place on the simmering plate cover  over night to be 'AGA ironed'.

  • How environmentally friendly are AGA heat-storage cookers? Read more

Each new AGA heat-storage cooker is made in Shropshire in the UK from 70% reclaimed iron, including old cast-iron cookers, drain covers, old machinery, door fittings etc and, in turn each old AGA is 90% recyclable, meaning you'll never find one on a landfill site.

Most new AGA cookers are now programmable, meaning they work hard when you want them to and slumber when you don't.  The AGA Intelligent Management System (AIMS). is a programmable device that powers down your AGA cooker when you are not using it, ensuring it uses energy responsibly.  It comes as standard with the 13-amp electric models and is an optional extra with most gas fuelled AGA cookers.

An AGA heat-storage cooker can also do the same jobs as many of your domestic appliances more efficiently. That means you can give your toaster, electric kettle, bread maker and even your tumble drier a break, which could help you reduce your domestic energy usage. Another thing to keep in mind is that the AGA heat-storage cooker is built to last for generations.

We're also dedicated to developing more efficient energy sources.  This includes programs using micro-generated electricity such as wind, solar power and heat pumps. To find out more about our green credentials, visit AGA and the environment.

  • How much does it cost to run an AGA heat-storage cooker? Read more

Because the AGA heat-storage cooker is always warm, it's not uncommon for people to have the misconception that it's expensive to run. The truth though, is when at normal heat the AGA cooker doesn't need to use a lot of energy thanks to its cast-iron, fully insulated body. Cast-iron retains heat and then transfers it throughout its ovens and hotplates at a steady, efficient rate. For the specific running costs of the AGA heat-storage cooker take a look at Aganomics.

Another thing to consider is that an AGA heat-storage cooker does more than just cook delicious food. It's a domestic workhorse and can do the work of a toaster, electric kettle and bread maker, meaning you spend less on kitchen appliances and minimise your energy consumption.  The AGA Intelligent Management System (AIMS) also allows the AGA to be powered down at times when you are not using it.

  • How do I clean my AGA heat-storage cooker when it’s constantly warm? Read more

The constant warmth of an AGA heat-storage cooker actually makes cleaning much easier. This is because heat is always steadily radiating, carbonising any cooking spills and splashes in the process. That means the hot ovens and hotplates practically clean themselves and only need an occasional brush out.

A daily wipe with a damp cloth should be enough to maintain the shine of your vitreous enamel surfaces. If spills are left, they bake on and are more difficult to remove. In this case, use a recommended AGA cleaning product to easily remove the stain. Cleaning products are available at the AGA Cookshop as well as at your dedicated AGA shop.

  • Can an AGA heat-storage cooker provide me with domestic hot water? Read more

2-oven and 4-oven gas and oil AGA cookers can provide domestic hot water (not central heating). Under certain conditions regardless of how much cooking is carried out, they provide a way of producing domestic hot water, spread over a 24 hour period.

To find out more about our domestic hot water models speak to you dedicated AGA shop or visit our Technical help page.

  • How do you control the temperature of an AGA heat-storage cooker? Read more

In short, you don't need to. The beauty of an AGA heat-storage cooker is that each oven and hotplate 'level of heat' is maintained at its pre-set heat thermostatically - so there's no need to fiddle with switches and dials. To learn more about the gentle cooking method of the AGA cooker visit heat-storage explained.

A useful technique, when you might need to adjust the temperature, is dedicated baking in the 2-oven AGA. To do this use the AGA Cold Plain Shelf - it's the perfect way to create the ideal baking temperature. Simply slide the Cold Plain Shelf on the second set of runners in the roasting oven where it will cut off the top radiant heat, giving you 20-30 minutes of baking time at the perfect temperature.

  • How big are the AGA heat-storage cooker’s ovens? Read more

All ovens in an AGA heat-storage range cooker are not only deceptively big at 25.4cm high, 34.9cm wide and 49.5cm deep, but you can use virtually every square centimetre. This is because you can slide tins onto the runners, stack pans in the simmering oven and cook on the floor of the oven.  That's big enough for each oven to hold up to 4 chickens.

And not only are the ovens nice and roomy, as the ovens are vented, you can cook different dishes simultaneously without the flavours merging. For instance, you can cook a garlicky chicken in the same oven as a delicate lemon tart and each will come out cooked to perfection.

With a number of ovens and two hotplates at your fingertips cooking for a large group of people isn't a problem with an AGA heat-storage cooker - and here's an idea of the number of people you can feed with each cooker:

    2-oven AGA cooker - up to 8
    3-oven AGA cooker - up to 8-10
    4-oven - up to 12-14
